A picturesque village in the central mountain region of Mexico, San Miguel has been an inspiration to artists and designers from all over the world since before World War II. A multi-cultural center, the town is known for its well-preserved historical center and its ex-pat community.
Anne Olsen, our jewelry designer, spent last Thanksgiving there with her family.
We were all very excited when Anne announced she’d be visiting the colonial town in Mexico. We couldn’t wait to see what she’d bring back.
While she was there, she discovered amazing art by local artists, including these hand-painted figures (on metal).
Created by a celebrated San Miguel artist (who was once featured on Martha Stewart), these whimsical Botero-esque figures are free-standing and would look great on a nightstand or vanity. In fact, each male figure is concealing a womanly hour-glass figure behind a ‘secret’ door.
We love the mix of masculine and feminine, the bright colors, and the playful use of form and function.
